Highly Buffered Coir

Treated Cocopeat

Buffered Husk Chips
Cocopeat Buffered
Optimized Growing Medium for Professional Horticulture
Buffered Cocopeat is an enhanced form of washed cocopeat that has undergone a rigorous treatment process to ensure optimal nutrient balance and remove harmful salts. This ensures healthier plant growth, especially in sensitive or high-value crops.
What is Buffered Cocopeat?
Buffered cocopeat goes beyond simple washing. While washing removes water-soluble salts, buffering targets and eliminates excess sodium (Na⁺) and potassium (K⁺) ions bound to the coir’s cation exchange sites. These are replaced with beneficial calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) ions to improve nutrient availability and prevent nutrient lockout.
Key Features
- ✔️ Low sodium and potassium content
- 🌱 High calcium and magnesium enrichment
- 🚫 Reduces risk of nutrient imbalances
- 🧪 Ideal pH and EC levels for horticulture use
- 🌍 RHP-standard compliant processing (Dutch Certification Standard)
Buffering Process Overview
Initial Flushing: Rinsing with clean water to remove soluble salts
Drainage: Cocopeat is drained to optimal moisture level
Cation Exchange Treatment: A precise solution of calcium nitrate and magnesium sulphate is applied
Displacement Reaction: Calcium and magnesium displace sodium and potassium from the cation exchange complex
Final Rinse: Clean water washes away displaced salts
Monitoring: Each batch is tested for EC, pH, and ion levels to meet strict quality standards
Applications
Seed starting and plug propagation
Transplanting of tissue-cultured plants
Commercial hydroponics and greenhouse crops
Ideal for professional nurseries and horticulturists
